Now Offering IMMUNIZATIONS

Lakeside Pharmacy is excited to announce that we now offer IMMUNIZATIONS! Mike has had special training in administering immunizations and is happy to offer this service. Lakeside Pharmacy offers a private immunization area and will provide your doctor with information on the immunization(s) you receive. We are also in the process of registering with the Washington States Immunization registry and will be able to upload immunizations into that system once that is complete.

We currently have the new shingles vaccine, Shingrix, in stock and will be ordering Pneumonia vaccine and Flu vaccine. Almost 1 out of every 3 people in the United States will develop shingles in their lifetime. Shingles is caused by the varicella zoster virus (VZV), the same virus that causes chickenpox. Anyone who has recovered from chickenpox may develop shingles; however, the risk of getting shingles increases as you age, with about half of all cases occurring in men and women age 60 years or older. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that healthy adults 50 years and older get two doses of the shingles vaccine called Shingrix (recombinant zoster vaccine), separated by 2 to 6 months, to prevent shingles and the complications from the disease. Your doctor or pharmacist can give you Shingrix as a shot in your upper arm. Shingrix provides strong protection against shingles and PHN. Two doses of Shingrix is more than 90% effective at preventing shingles and PHN. Protection stays above 85% for at least the first four years after you get vaccinated. Shingrix is the preferred vaccine, over Zostavax® (zoster vaccine live), a shingles vaccine in use since 2006.
